Betty DeRosia, 77, of Anamosa received her Angel wings on Saturday, January 2, 2016, after a courageous battle with lung cancer at her home in Anamosa. Family and friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, with a vigil at 2:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa. There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. where she will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved husband, Yale, at the Springville Cemetery.

Betty is survived by her two children, Teresa Mills of Mesa, AZ and Michael Mills of Phoenix, AZ. She has four precious grandchildren, Melissa (Tim) Davis, Cedar Rapids, Weston (Renee) Bishop, Atkins, Jeffrey (Melissa) Doubek, Cedar Rapids and Amanda (Joe) Latta, Springville. Her family is rounded out by her 18 great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by many siblings which include Theresa Dullea, Bill (Dolores) Kelchen, Phil (Virginia) Kelchen, Lee Kelchen, John (Mary) Kelchen, Ruth (Dick) Pasker, Charlie (Vicki) Kelchen, and Steve “Ben” (Kor) Kelchen. Her half sisters, Mary Eleanor Graessle and Catherine (Joseph) Matthews. She has many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Al and Leona Kelchen; and four siblings: Allen Kelchen, Bob Kelchen, Rita Kelchen and Larry Kelchen. She has also lost three wonderful husbands: Yale Mills, Robert (Bob) Pauly and Alfred DeRosia.

Betty Kelchen (Mills, Pauly) DeRosia was born on November 28, 1938, in Monticello, Iowa as the 5th of what ended up being 13 children of Al and Leona Kelchen; the 13 kids joined Al’s two beautiful daughters from his first marriage. The large household made for a great farm family foundation. Betty married her soul mate, Yale in 1958; they raised their two children and made many great memories in Springville, Iowa, where she was the Treasurer at the Springville Co-op Telephone Company alongside the manager, her husband. They enjoyed life to the fullest in their 29 years of wedded bliss! Yale was taken from her far too soon. She once again found happiness with Bob Pauly as they wed in 1990. The two enjoyed retirement with boating, golf, family and lots of laughs. Bob suddenly passed away on one of their golf dates. Betty then, quite unexpectedly she said, found love on the golf course with Al DeRosia. They married in 2007 and enjoyed the winter of their life in their winter home in Mission, Texas, their golf course condo in Anamosa and playing lots of golf. Al passed away on Thanksgiving 2015 in their winter Texas home.

Betty will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith, her beautiful smile and that special twinkle in her eye when she spoke about her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren-- or was up to some mischief! She will be greatly missed—her spirit will live on with many special memories by family and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s memory.
