Betty A. Christensen, 71, of 931 4th Street SW, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. William Harnish. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at the funeral home. Inurnment at a later date.
Survivors include her sons, Mike (Barb) of Anamosa, Scott (fiancé Kim), Mitch (Stephanie) and James, all of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Kelley, Cain, Danielle, John, Shelby, Tanner, Jesse, Niki and Tom; her great-grandchildren, Lindy, Skylar, Jennica, Marrisa, Nolan, Evan and Emalee; a sister, Evelyn Sisco of Marion; a stepsister, Ramona of Nebraska; two stepbrothers, Steve and Jerry of Nebraska; and special friends, Betty of Marion and Susie of Center Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Betty was born April 16, 1932, the daughter of Lyle and Lucille Deal, in Cozad, Nebraska. She married James Christensen. He died February 15, 1990. Betty belonged to the Immanuel Baptist Church and the Witwer Senior Center. She enjoyed working in the yard, especially with her flowers and her philosophy was "best be on time.? Betty was an awesome mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed very, very greatly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in memory of Betty.
