Betty R. Bethurum, 86, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Delhi, Iowa, passed away December 15, 2016, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to service with David Duball officiating. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi, Iowa.
Betty was born December 24, 1929, in rural Linn County, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Warner) Arnold. She graduated from West Delaware High School. Betty married Jack E. Bethurum in Manchester on June 4, 1950. He passed away in 1994. She was a happy homemaker and enjoyed babysitting in her home for over 100 children. Betty was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church. She was known as “Grams” to many. Betty was a very good listener. Betty love to work on photo and scrap books for her family. She would do anything you asked of her. Betty was an avid collector of owls.
She is survived by her children, Curtis Bethurum of Robins, Iowa, and Cathy (John) Merck of Atkins, Iowa; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelcey) Morrison of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Ryan (Alissa) Morrison of Johnson, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Etta Morrison of Spirit Lake; step-grandsons, Michael Merck of Cedar Rapids, and Christopher Merck of Marion, Iowa; siblings, Doreen Renfrow of Bloomington, Minnesota, Dorrance (Jean) Arnold of Oelwein, Iowa, Dean (Elsie) Arnold of Lansing, Michigan;
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
