Bethel Annette Toms, 83 of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Manchester, IA died December 30, 2010.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m, Friday, January 21, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Manchester by Rev. Roger Henry. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements handled by Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Manchester, IA.
Bethel was born November 8, 1927 in Delhi, the daughter of Joseph and Lillian Davis. She graduated from the Manchester High School and later attended Upper Iowa University, receiving her teaching certificate. On May 29, 1947, Bethel was united in marriage to Merlyn Smith Toms in Manchester. He died August 7, 1992. Bethel was employed by Swift and Swift Law Office, West Delaware Schools, and Manchester City Office.
Bethel was an active member of the Manchester UMW until she moved to Sun City to be closer to her children and grandchildren in 1998. She enjoyed reading, beading jewelry, scrabble and other games.
Bethel is survived by her five children, Larry (Susan) Toms of Burnsville, MN, Vicki (Jack) DeSotel of Fairbank, Michael (Lara) Toms of Gilbertville, AZ, Debra (Ronald) Oliva and Jeffery Toms both of Peoria, AZ; two sisters, Neva Meehan of Sidney, MT, and Ruth Frazer of Loveland, CO; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Bethel was preceded in death by her husband, Merlyn; her parents, Joseph and Lillian Davis; two grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters.
