Bessie J. Valka, 72, of Central City, died Friday, July 29, 2005, in St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, following long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City, by the Rev. David Snyder. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (August 2) at the funeral home

Survivors include her soulmate, Richard Brewer of Central City; her children Robert "Bob? (Anna) Lanka of Dubuque, Patricia (Loren) Ingalls of Newhall, and Bill (fiancée, Kelly) Valka of Central City; and a sister, Lillian (Dale "Mick?) Betenbender of Coggon; and a sister-in-law, Lavonne Marek of Center Point.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Aaron, Tristan, Machaela and Emily Ingalls; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerome "Jerry? Marek

Bessie was born the daughter of John and Lillian Marek on August 19, 1932, in Marion. She grew up in the Waubeek, Springville, Swisher and Central City on area farms. Bessie retired from Mercy Home Health Care in 1988. She was involved in 4-H, Campfire, and was a Bluebird leader.

Bessie loved her grandchildren, traveling and spending time with Richard. She enjoyed animals and wildlife.

A memorial fund has been established in Bessie?s memory.
