Bessie Kramer, 85, of 1220 - 44th St., Marion, died at her home on Monday, August 30, 2004, from complications of cancer. Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Pastor Lyle Kendrick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2004.
Survivors include six children, David (Jan) Conway of Troy Mills, Dennis (Susan) Conway of Marion, Raymalene (Fred) Vargason of Woodland Park, Colorado, Lonny Kramer of Peachtree City, Georgia, Gloria (Frank) Porter of Carrollton, Texas, and John (Shelly) Kramer of Marion; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Tisl of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; a sister, Lenore Dlouhy; and a granddaughter, Sherri Conway.
Bessie was born the daughter of John and Mary Barbara Jacoubek Stirsky on September 15, 1918, in Marion Township, Linn County. She was united in marriage to Raymond Kramer in October 1953. He died in 1986. Bessie was a former longtime resident of Alburnett. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids and the card club at the Witwer Senior Center.
A memorial fund has been established for St. Luke?s Hospice in memory of Bessie.
