Bessie M. Holub, 99, a former resident of Prairieburg, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at the Anamosa Care Center, Anamosa, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg, by the Rev. Gerald Condon. Friends may call from 2 - 6 p.m. Sunday (June 29) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, where a parish vigil service will begin at 3 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Leonore Petrick and husband Joseph of Prairieburg; ten grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; and two brothers, Jim and Rudolph.
Bessie was born December 21, 1903, the daughter of Frank and Mary Kraus in Chicago. While still a young girl, Bessie?s parents died and she was raised by the Frank Slouha family in Oxford Juction. She was united in marriage to Edward L. Holub on October 2, 1922, in Oxford Junction. He died May 8, 1991. Edward and Bessie farmed in the Prairieburg area for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg.
