Bessie M Charipar. 89, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died August 8, 2007. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Thomas McDermott. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Private Burial: Blaine Cemetery, Swisher.
Bessie is survived by her children, Jo Brown of Minneapolis, Gerald (Mary) of Rochester, New York, the Rev. Henry Charipar of Dubuque, Iowa, Charlene Stellamaris of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, and Karl (Connie) of Minneapolis; her granddaughters Christine and Sarah of Chicago, and Abigail Radintz of Madison, Wisconsin, her grandsons, Paul Charipar of Nashville, Tennessee, Daniel Charipar of Minneapolis, Matthew (Angela) Radintz of Clear Lake, Wisconsin; a great-grandson, Ian Radintz of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, a brother-in-law, Al of Dallas, Texas, and sister-in-law, Helen Reed of Cedar Rapids; many generations of nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents, Charles and Anna, her sisters, Charlene Bohac, Anne Machaceck and Mary Holececk.
Bessie was born February 2, 1918, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Bartunek) Bohac in Cedar Rapids. On March 30, 1940, she married Henry (“Hank”) Charipar. They had five children, six grandchildren, and she had two great-grandchildren. She was a convert to Catholicism and an active member of St. Ludmila’s parish. After her children were grown, Bessie and Hank moved to Swisher Iowa, and she went to work at the Swisher Trust & Savings Bank where she retired as assistant cashier in 1980. Bessie and Hank spent winters in Yuma, Arizona, and in 1999 they moved to New Hope, Minnesota. Following Hank’s death in 2004, Bessie1ived with her daughter, Jo, in Minneapolis until her death.
