Berniece was born to Benjamin and Virginia (Mathews) King on September 17, 1919, in the Vinton area where her parents farmed. She graduated from Urbana High School and worked a short time at the hospital in Waterloo. In 1939, she married Floyd Durow of the Center Point area where they have lived and farmed for the last 64 years. She was a devoted wife, active member of her church, member of the Westside Country Club and worked several years in the Center Point School lunch program. As a hobby, she handmade many quilts, comforters and other items for all of the grandchildren and was always the compassionate sister to all of her siblings. She loved her flowers, loved to cook, laugh, travel, shop, visit with people and was a good example of how to live a positive life and to love one another. She was a great wife, wonderful mother and a "grandma?s..grandma?. She was the "hub? of the family, loved by all and will be dearly missed by everyone who ever knew her.
A memorial fund in her name has been established at the Center Point Methodist Church.
