Bernice "Caroll? Thudium, 90, of Manchester, died Sunday, May 29, 2005 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 15 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Inurnment will take place on Saturday, July 16 at the Bode Cemetery in Bode, Iowa.

Caroll was born July 13, 1914, the daughter of Edwin and Naomi (Snyder) Granseth in Bristow, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1931 and later attended Gates Business College in Waterloo. On June 5, 1937 Caroll married Charles Thudium. The couple lived in Chicago, Illinois and Cedar Falls, Iowa and later divorced.

Caroll was a member of Business and Professional Women and the Educational Secretaries Association. She was a past-member of College Hill Lutheran and Our Redeemer Lutheran Churches in Cedar Falls. Caroll was an avid reader and loved books of all kinds. She also enjoyed poetry, music, UNI athletics, a good laugh and a hot cup of coffee.

Caroll was a loving mother and family member. She is survived by four daughters, Sandy (Don) Geddes of Longmont, CO, Sharon (Jack) Yonkees of Cypress, TX, Ellen McGee of Mankato, MN and Pat (Bill) Blakesley of Manchester; nine grandchildren and spouses; and two sisters, Elsie (Ralph) Parkinson of Harrison, AR and Eunice Evenson of Algona, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Granseth and Naomi Thronson; and a brother-in-law, Ivan Evenson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Manchester Public Library in Caroll?s name.
