Bernice M. Dighton Koenighain, 93, of 329 39th Street NE, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, in her home following a brief illness. Memorial Services: 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends on Thursday from 4 p.m. until service time. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, James Koenighain and wife Karen of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Sarah Koenighain; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Koenighain; three brothers, Duane, Clark and Harley Dighton; and two sisters, Reva Hadorn and Zella Johnsrud.
Bernice was born August 14, 1911, the daughter of Roy and Eva Soesbe Dighton, in Hopkinton, Iowa. She married Richard Koenighain. He died in 1947. A piano teacher for many years, Bernice enjoyed helping others as a homemaker and caregiver for her family. She was a member of the Witwer Senior Center and for over 40 years a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church.
Instead of flowers, a memorial may be made to St. Luke?s Hospice or Olivet Presbyterian Church in memory of Bernice.
