Bernice Ruth Bowers of Center Point, Iowa, passed away, Saturday, June 28, 2014, peacefully at her home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Alice United Methodist Church, rural Center Point, by Pastor Sheri Andersen. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Alice Cemetery, rural Center Point.
She is survived by her husband, Claire; sister, Mardena; sons, Gary and Michael; daughter, Barbara; and daughter-in-law, Diane; grandchildren, Shane, Kelly, Stacy, Kristen and families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Bernita, sister, Bonny; and her son, Jerry.
Bernice was born on May 16, 1928, in Spring Grove Township, Linn County, Iowa, to Glenn and Genevieve Sanborn of Center Point. She married Claire Edward Bowers on December 20, 1947. As a long-time member of the Alice Church, she enjoyed quilting with the UMW, as well as garden club, crosswords and spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed.
