Bernice Irene Bell, 96, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at Mayvil on June 6, 2018. Visitation: 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. A private family burial will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Bernice was born December 10, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joe and Blanche (Bartosh) Modracek. She was united in marriage to Richard L. Bell on October 4, 1941. They later divorced.
In her early years Bernice worked for Collins Radio and in the late 1950’s for the Cerebral Palsey Center. She devoted her life to her family. As an only child, her girls were her pride and joy. After family, Bernice loved music, dancing, her furry kids, flower gardening, BINGO, and sparkly things. She possessed an indomitable spirit through many adversities. Bernice retained her sense of humor and ability to find pleasure in simple things until the end.
Bernice leaves behind her daughters, Carol Butschi and Janet Noble; grandchildren, Hunter-Dawn (Mark) Inger, Matthew Armstrong, and Adam Butschi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Patricia Beebe Raftis.
