Bernard "Bud? Meyer, 87, of 5807 Timber Creek Road, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Alburnett and Robins, went to meet the Lord at his home on Friday, February 3, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. David Higdon, with military honors by Marion American Legion Post No. 298. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra (Vohn) Teed of Cedar Rapids and Linda (David) Trottman of Leavenworth, Kansas; a stepson, Rick (Sandy) Freese of Cedar Rapids; two stepdaughters, Linda (Lanny) Vaughn of Antioch, California, and Sally (Dan) Kadlec of Central City; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister, Mavis Johnson of Mason City; and a sister-in-law, Eloise Meyer of Chester, Iowa.

Preceding Bud in death were his wives, Betty Meyer in 1974, and Mary Meyer in 2005; his parents; a brother; and two sisters.

Bud was born June 2, 1918, in Garner, Iowa, the son of William F. and Edith (Haner) Meyer. He served as a Seaman 1st Class with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bud married Elizabeth L. Sietsema and later, Mary R. Elkin, both of whom preceded him in death. Bud was a machinist and retired from Evergreen (Cherry Burrell.)

He loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting and competed in time trials with his coon hunting dogs.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800, in memory of Bud.
