Bernard Fay Evers, 90, of Coggon, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016, at Hallmark Care Center, Mt. Vernon. Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon. Military Honors will be provided by the Floyd Williamson American Legion Post #712 of Troy Mills.

Bernard is survived by his wife Maxine; children, Gary (Darlene) Evers of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Gail (Randy) Blackburn of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Harry (Karen) Evers of Walker; 7 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori Hardy; 4 sisters; and a brother.

Bernard was born September 14, 1925, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Lois (Fay) Evers. He graduated from Troy Mills High School in 1944. Bernard was in the United States Army from 1944 to 1947 and was stationed in Germany during World War II. On June 6, 1946, he married Maxine Mae Parson at the Methodist Church in Troy Mills. Bernard was a farmer for 20 years and also worked at Collins Radio. Bernard enjoyed gardening, yard work and was a long-time member of the Floyd Williamson American Legion Post #712 of Troy Mills.
