Bernadine "Bernie? E. Sindelar, 77, of rural Central City, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004, in her home, following a sudden illness. Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004, at St. Stephen?s Catholic Church in Central City, by Rev. Wayne Droessler. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City, with a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City. A luncheon at the American Legion Hall in Central City will follow the burial.

Survivors include her husband, Carl; three sons, Chuck Sindelar and wife Diana of Coggon, Tom Sindelar and wife Kim of Central City and Terry Sindelar and wife Cathy of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Cheryl Taylor and husband Rick of Central City; and two sisters, Dora Wall and husband Glenn of Central City and Lois Clark of Central City.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Don Brunen.

Bernadine was born the daughter of Bruno and S. Leona Kopenhaver Brunen on June 30, 1926 in Coggon. On August 18, 1948, in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, she was married to Carl M. Sindelar. She graduated from Central City High School in 1943. Bernadine worked at Rockwell Collins as an inspector, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Stephen?s Catholic Church in Central City; Ladies Guild; and the D.C. Club; and American Legion Auxiliary No. 421, currently serving as vice-president. She also was a substitute teacher?s associate in the Central City Community School.

Bernadine enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching and attending her grandchildren?s activities. She was the very best noodle maker and loved cats, frogs and dumplings.

Bernadine will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
