Bernadine “Bernie” A. Fisher, 91, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Chaplain Susan Sweeney. Family will greet friends from 9 until service time Saturday. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Survivors include her children, Judy (Gene) Wickman of Robins, and Gary (Corinne Johnson) Fisher of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Daniel (Karla) Parvin, Nancy (Tim) Cortez, Jason Fisher and Jill Foster; six great grandchildren, Paige and Hannah Parvin, Colton, Brady and Gabrielle Cortez and Mackenzie Fisher; and one great great-grandson, Thomas Slaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Fisher; two sisters, Bernice and Eleanor; one brother, Clarence; daughter-in-law, Alice Fisher; one grandson, Denver; one granddaughter-in-law, Amanda; and one grandson-in-law, Jim.
Bernie was born on October 13, 1922, in Benton County, daughter of James and Agnes (Schmidel) Bevins. She married Eugene Fisher on February 11, 1941, in Vinton; he died in October of 2011. Bernie worked at the Benton Community School System.
