Bernadene Ann Nelson, 81, of Center Point, died Saturday, January 4, 2003, in Higley Mansion Care Center, Cedar Rapids, of cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at United Methodist Church, Center Point, by the Rev. Leo Andersen. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include a brother, Melvin Morgan of Center Point; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney; and a brother, Lawrence.
Bernadene was born June 4, 1921, the daughter of Harry and Ida (Kessler) Morgan, in rural Center Point, Iowa. A longtime resident of Center Point, she was united in marriage to Sidney Nelson on January 28, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He died January 15, 1997. Bernadene worked at the Center Point Schools in the Food Service & Laundry for 28 years, retiring in 1983. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Center Point.
Bernadene was a loving wife, sister and aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She felt fortunate to have family, dear friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed.
