Benjamin H. Williamson, 69, of 8 33rd Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, October 13, 2003, in his home of prostate cancer, with his family by his side. Private Graveside Service: Thursday, October 16, 2003, at Linwood Mausoleum, by Chaplain Christine Wagner Hecht, with military rites.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl "Sherry?; his children, Michelle (Kevin) Johnston of Highlands, Texas, Melinda Glade of Cedar Rapids, Karen (Laird) Jones of Hiawatha, Rose (Kenneth) LeClere of Olin, Iowa, Tom Williamson of Griffith, Indiana, Bruce (Lori) Williamson of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, and Mary (Mike) Nollen of Cedar Rapids; his stepson, Mike (Pam) Shefelbine of Central City; his brothers and sisters, Harlan (Delores) LeClere of Monmouth, Illinois, Bill (Jane) Williamson of Waterloo, Bob (Louise) Williamson of Pearland, Texas, Louis Knapp of Cedar Rapids, Alice (Lloyd) Martens of Cedar Rapids, Virginia Williamson of Hopkinton, Iowa and Mary Walters of Oakdale, Minnesota; his former wife, Grace Williamson of Coggon, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and 9 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John J. Williamson and Ben?s wonderful dog, Dutchess.
Benjamin was born April 16, 1934, the son of John C. and Lillian L. (Starks) Williamson, in Hopkinton, Iowa. He married Cheryl "Sherry? (Hewitt) Shefelbine on October 22, 1988, at Palisades Park in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Benjamin worked at FMC Link Belt and later retired from Iowa Precision. He served in the Korean War and was a past member of the American Legion. Benjamin loved woodworking, golf, playing pool, birds, fish and all types of nature.
He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be missed by all. The family has requested flowers not to be sent.
