Beatrice I. Henderson, 85, a resident of the Promise House, Hiawatha, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, surrounded by her family, at the care center, following complications of Alzheimer’s. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Eden United Church of Christ, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Glenn Hunt. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two sons, Francis (Barb) Henderson of Robins, Iowa, and Keith (Phyllis) Henderson of Prairie DuChien, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Todd Henderson, Mark Henderson, Julie Miller, Kelly Rhineberger, Brian Henderson and Aaron Henderson; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Mardelle) Bachman of Oelwein, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; four brothers, Leo, Raymond, Merlin and Ernest Bachman; and a sister, Gladys Hearn.

Bea was born January 26, 1923, the daughter of Albert and Ethel (Austin) Bachman in a farmhouse near West Union, Iowa. On October 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Alfred I. Henderson in Littleton, Iowa. He died May 2, 2004. Bea enjoyed fishing, cooking and was an avid bowler. She also loved being with her family at their dinners and gatherings. Bea was a longtime member of the Eden United Church of Christ and for many years sang in the choir.
