Barbara “Jeannie” Randall, 76, of Center Point, Iowa, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family from a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Family will greet 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Donald “Randy” Randall of Center Point; children, Tamra (Jim) Randall-Osborn of Vinton, Robbie (Greg) Randall of Marion, Tracy (Tom) Latteyer of Vinton, Jodie Lawrence (Mark Fulmer) of Alburnett, Jamie (Tara) Randall of Center Point, Trever (Stacey) Randall of Vinton and Chad (Crystal) Randall of Olin; sister, Keena (Doug) Ashbacher of Center Point; brother, Cliff (Donna) McClean of Omaha, NE; twenty three grandchildren; and twenty five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daisy and Jim Riley and Carlton “Bud” McClean; two daughters, Margorie Ann and Robin Ann; great-grandson, Jacob Osborn; numerous aunts uncles and friends that were there to welcome her home; and especially her beloved friend, Thelma Miller who went ahead of Jeannie to make sure that St. Peter would let her in.
Jeannie was born on December 3, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Carlton “Bud” and Daisy (West) McClean. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955, and then took nursing training at Mercy Hospital. Jeannie married Donald “Randy” Randall on May 13, 1961, in Cedar Rapids. She worked many years in nursing homes taking care of the elderly and later in her life working at Linn-Mar High School. Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeannie loved to work in her flower beds and vegetable garden, take walks in the woods, fields and along the river on her beloved farm. Jeannie also volunteered at the Civil Air Patrol. Jeannie also had a passion for preserving the bounty from her garden and cooking meals for her family.
We love you mom and will always miss you, but we know that you will be watching over us and when our times come to go home you will be there to welcome us with open arms and a swat if needed.
