Barbara Rose Post, 74, of Siren, Wisconsin, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, in her home, following a long illness. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa by Rev. Bill Harnish. Visitation will be from 4:00 ?" 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Claude “Buster”, her children; Claudette (Butch) Walker, Marion, Iowa, Roxanna (Loren) Conley, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Ricky (Pam) Post, Martelle, Iowa, and Randy (Michelle) Post, Dubuque, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers and sisters; Meredith “Doll” Johnston, Leonora “Pug” (Frank) Perez, William (Verlee) Edwards, Larry Edwards, and a sister in-law Ramona Curtis, in addition many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mildred Edwards, a son Leon Dale Post, an infant daughter Rose Marie Post, her mother in-law Nettie VanTasell, and her father in-law Leon “Van” VanTasell.
Barbara was born May 3, 1934 in Maquoketa, Iowa the daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Varner) Edwards. She married Claude “Buster” Post on December 16, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. She loved fishing, cross stitch, spending time with her grandchildren, family, and also spending time with her and Busters friends in Yuma, Arizona. Barbara also loved babies and they always made her smile.
