Barbara Joyce (Long) Moyer

Barbara Joyce (Long) Moyer, 86, of Central City, Iowa went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, Central City by Rev. Josh Hansen. Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Forest Chapel Cemetery, Morley, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Rev. Rose (Jeffrey) Blank of LaPorte City, Iowa, John (LaVonne) Moyer of Anamosa, Iowa, Dennis (Jeanne) Moyer of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Keith (Joetta) Moyer of Center Point, Iowa, and Annette Saxion of Central City, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Mesecher of Cherry Valley, California and Claribel Rider of DeWitt, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Helen Long of Marion, Iowa and Mary (Dean) Gerdemann of Springville, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, LaVerne, Wayne and Kenneth Long; and sisters, Mildred Schlueter, Mary Ellen Hardisty, and Eleanor Murphy.
Barbara was born March 22, 1930, in Cedar Bluff, Iowa, the daughter of James Aaron and Elsie Mae (Goodall) Long. On August 20, 1950, she married James Albert Moyer at the Springville Presbyterian Church. He passed away November 22, 2007.
Barbara graduated from Springville High School in 1948. Barbara and James were longtime Linn County farmers, owning BJ Farms, Inc. She was very active at the First United Methodist Church, Central City. Barbara was also a member of NOMADS, Red Hat Society, Quilt Club and the Golden Rule Club.
