Barbara J. Lane, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010, in her home. Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Jeremy Hudson. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Survivors include her children, Barbara and David Stiegelbauer of Westbury, New York, Terry McAtee, Trish Lane and William and Cecilia Lane III all of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Lester Bovee.
Born December 4, 1930, in South Hampton, New York, Barbara was the daughter of Lester and Teresa (Gormley) Bovee. She graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Manhattan, New York. On November 25, 1951, she was married to William Lane. She worked as a keypunch operator for a computer company in Manhattan, did data entry for B & G Pickle in Long Island City, New York and then worked for Henry Schein Pharmaceutical House in Port Washington, New York. After retiring in 1987, and moving to Cedar Rapids in 1989, she worked as a temp for the schools and Sunmart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made in Barbara’s memory to a hospice of the donor’s choice.
