Barbara Ann Lagerquist, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway (Toddville) Iowa.

Barbara was born on September 28, 1935, in Olin, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Wilma (Murfield) McDonald. She was a 1954 graduate of McKinley High School. On March 5, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to Earl Bruce Lagerquist in Cedar Rapids. Together, they had five children. Barbara was employed as a baker for the Cedar Rapids School District for many years, then she worked as a laborer at Rockwell Collins for over 16 years, before her retirement in 1990. She was a former Red Cross disaster volunteer. Barbara enjoyed baking, crafts, and quilting, but most especially, time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara is survived and lovingly remembered by her five children, Sheryl (David) Schlenker of Ankeny, Iowa, Sally (Mark) Cross of Cedar Rapids, Greg (Mary) Lagerquist of Marion, Stacy (Michael) Andersen of Marion, and Sandra Lagerquist of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Zachary Cross, Erin (Craig) Davis, Tyler Lagerquist, Ryan (Cayla) Andersen, Katie (Trevor) Agnew, and Ashley (Kurtis) Peterson; four great-grandchildren, Kresten, Reagan, Laney, and Nash; brother, Lanny (Sue) McDonald of Arcadia, Oklahoma; sister, Sue Collins of Concordia, Kansas; sister-in-law, Rosie McDonald; and a host of extended family including nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2017, Earl Lagerquist; sister, Corrine (Bill) Strong; brother, Doug McDonald; and brother-in-law, Chuck Collins.

Memorials in Barbara’s memory may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, the Mercy Center for Memory Health, or to the Encore Aging Luncheon at Lowe Park through the Heritage Area Agency.
