Barbara J. Forkner, 82, of Springville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church, conducted by Father Mark Kwenin. Burial will take place 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Cemetery, Independence. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Barbara was born January 12, 1936, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of F.D. and Hazel (Anderson) Brown. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1954. Barbara retired from Rockwell Collins after many years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Barbara enjoyed watching old westerns, researching family genealogy, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, David, Dean, Doug, Dan (Gwen), and Tim (Jean) Stanek; eight grandchildren, Clint, Clayt, Kendra, Kyle, Courtney, Jill, Nicole, and Jessica; nine great-grandchildren, Mattea, Izabella, Brielle, Gavin, Christopher, Kelsey, McKinley, Blayden, and Skylinn; seven brothers, Bernard (Doris), Tom, Mike (Bonnie), Steve, John (Shelly), Paul (Cindy), and Dennis (Janet) Brown; two sisters, Bernadine (Tom) Wilkinson and Pat Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert and his wife Mary Jo; sister, Mary Rigdon; and sister-in-law, Cheri Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
