Barbara E. Fitzgerald, 93, of Marion, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, conducted by Reverend Dr. Howard Chapman. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Barbara is survived by her cousins, Robert (Myrtle) Wright, and Norman (Janice) Fitzgerald.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother at birth, Robert Lee Fitzgerald; and cousin, Jerry Wright.
Barbara was born May 7, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Lee Roy and Mildred (Hough) Fitzgerald. She graduated from Marion High School in 1942 and Coe College. Barbara also attended the Minneapolis School of Art for one year. She was employed at Armstrongs Department Store in the advertising department for 29 years. Barbara was a member of the Alpha XI Delta Sorority and Alumni Group at Coe College. She also was a member of PEO Chapter CS, First Presbyterian Church, and the Church Circle at First Presbyterian Church.
