Barbara Jean Dighton (Anderson)

Barbara J. Dighton, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, March 16, 2009, in Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, following a short illness. A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Private inurnment at a later date.
Survivors include her children, Mike (Becky), Steve (Sandy), Kathy (Karen), Ron (Connie) and Jeff (Penny); 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; siblings, David, JoAnne, Diane, Sharon, Donna and Debra.
Born May 24, 1928, in Williams, Iowa, Barbara was the daughter of Fred and Cecilia (Franklin) Anderson. In August of 1945, she married Glenn Dighton. He died in 1996. Barbara was a business/owner of a bar and restaurant and worked in the office at Wilson Meat Packing Company.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda; five brothers and sisters; and grandson, Jordan.
A memorial fund has been established in Barbara’s memory.
