Barbara Jean Akers, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away February 1, 2017. Services: 10:00 Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Cedar Valley Bible Church with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles; sons, Scott (Eileen “Dolly”) Akers of Titusville, Florida, Philip (Brenda) Akers of Holt, Missouri; daughter, Kathryn (Terry) Hartgrave of Hiawatha, Iowa; grandchildren, Philip (Cassie) Hartgrave, Michael (Holly) Hartgrave, Damon (Svetlana) Akers, Kaimee Akers, Kinsey Marcella; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Wetzel and son, Dennis Akers.
Barbara was born March 2, 1929, in Blairstown, Iowa. On October 1, 1949, she married Charles W. Akers. Barbara worked at Mercy Hospital and Penick & Ford.
