Audrey M. Berry, 68, of Alburnett, went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 09, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Services: 2 p.m. Monday May 12, 2003, at Alburnett United Methodist Church by Rev. Fred Darbonne and Rev. Dan Peterson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour before the services at the church. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; four daughters, Jeanne Bailey of Alburnett, Julie Hoover and husband Ron of Alburnett, Janet Sargent and husband Dave of Alburnett and Jennifer Berry and fiancé Alex Fuentes of Santee, California; and a sister, Carol Smith and husband Ardie of Alburnett.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Jodie, Dan and Jamie Bailey, Eric and Cindy Hoover, Brandi and Chris Sargent and Hailey Fuentes; three great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Tyler and Gracie; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Dwayne Tritle.

Audrey was born in Alburnett on October 23, 1934, the daughter of Merle and Elizabeth (Grandia) Tritle. On June 21, 1953, she married Robert Berry at the Alburnett United Methodist Church. Audrey worked at Berry?s Furniture & Appliance, which she and Bob owned and operated for several years. She then worked at Rockwell-Collins as a purchasing clerk and also worked as a rural mail carrier in the Alburnett area.

Audrey was a member of Alburnett United Methodist Church. She enjoyed walking and spending time with family. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren?s activities. Audrey loved gardening, sewing and bowling. She will be fondly remembered by many children around town who knew her as "Grandma Audrey?.

A memorial fund has been established in Audrey?s memory.
