Arthur “Art” Weber, 78, of Earlville, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, January 26, 2010, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Friday, January 29, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Earlville, with Rev. Herbert Tegeler officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, with a 7:00 pm Scripture Service, and after 9:30 am on Friday, at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Art was born on October 26, 1931, Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Henry “Hank” & E. Pauline [Gravel] Weber. He attended school in Delhi and Earlville before joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 serving in the Korean War. He was discharged from the Navy in 1952 and returned to graduate from the Earlville High School in 1953. Art was united in marriage to Marilyn Ann Maiers on May 20, 1957, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville. Art worked for John Deere & Company in Dubuque working in the foundry, assemble and finally in motor testing. He retired from Deere in 1987 after 32 years.

Art was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville and the American Legion Posts in Earlville and Delhi. He enjoyed playing cards and being on the water with his boat.

Art is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ann Weber of Earlville; three sons, Rick Weber (Kyla Shakespeare) of Earlville, Randy [Michele] Weber of Epworth, and Mike [Tina] Weber of Earlville; a daughter, Vicki Weber of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Andrea [Jason] Todd, Brooke [Randy] Bacon, Dylan, Danielle, Nicole, Jeremy, and Benjamin Weber; one great-grandchild, Maddox Todd; and a sister, Dorothy [Al] Neuhaus of Dyersville.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Hank Weber & Pauline Steger.
