Arthur Conrad Schmuecker, 80, of Earlville, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2005, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Earlville, by Rev. Herbert Tegeler. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery in Earlville, Iowa.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela Schmuecker of Iowa City and Julie (Michael) Bagby of Woodinville, Washington; and a brother, Ray Schmuecker of Earlville; two grandchildren, Lauren and Olivia Bagby; one nephew, Tom (Teri) Schmuecker of Earlville; two nieces, Tammy (Gary) Thatcher of Cedar Rapids and Ann Schmuecker of Earlville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Reeves); his parents; and one son, Todd Schmuecker.
Arthur was born the son of Anton and Pauline (Lueck) Schmuecker on March 8, 1925, in Earlville. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On December 28, 1963 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Reeves.
As a longtime resident of the Earlville area, Arthur farmed most of his life. He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, Singles in Agriculture and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
