Arthur D. Cameron, 88, of Central City, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City, by the Rev. Mike Morgan of First United Methodist Church in Marion, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are his children, Lyle Cameron and wife Roberta of Alburnett, Keith Cameron and wife Martha of Liburn, Georgia and Betty Coleman and husband Douglas of Marion; two brothers, Clarence Cameron and wife Laura of Hiawatha and Louis Cameron of Troy Mills.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Lonny, Rhonda, Rita, Tamara, Todd and Erin; and six great-grandchildren, Kristina, Dustin, Christian, Madelyn, Parker and Drew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Elmer Dewitt Cameron and a sister, Louise Allen.
Arthur was born the son of Don V. and Maggie Albaugh Cameron on March 19, 1915 in Spring Grove Township in Linn County. On December 29, 1936, in Cambridge, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Grace Mildred Avis. She died September 25, 1996. Arthur was a lifelong resident of Linn County and farmed in the area for over forty years. After his retirement from farming he moved to Central City.
