Arthur "Goldie? L. Baxter, 82, of Manchester, died on Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Penn Center in Delhi following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and one hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Goldie was born the son of Arthur L. and Susan E. (Kauffman) Baxter on December 11, 1922 in Greeley. He attended the Oneida School. Goldie worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) at Backbone State Park and as a trackman for the Illinois Central Railroad. Goldie lived in Manchester after retirement and moved to the Penn Center in October of 2002. He was a lifelong member of the railroad union.
Goldie is survived by two sisters, Mildred Traver of Riverside, CA and Bertha (Donald) Traver of Ryan; a brother, Joe Baxter of Riverside, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Goldie was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Susan Baxter; two sisters, Margaret Cox & Vergie Harrington; and two brothers, Merle Baxter & Winfrey "Max? Baxter.
