Arthur J. Hackbarth, 74, of Manchester, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. Nick March. Family will greet friends from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, with a rosary at 6:00 p.m., at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arthur was born March 12, 1933 in Earlville, the son of Arthur J. and Gertrude (Hunt) Hackbarth. On October 28, 1952, Art was united in marriage to Viola M. Breitbach at St. Martins Catholic Church in Cascade. Art worked as a surveyor for Delaware County for 44 years.
During his employment and after retiring, Art enjoyed woodworking, gardening, collecting hosta, playing cards and was an avid fisherman. Art was a strong, patient man with a deep love for his family.
Art is survived by his wife, Vi Hackbarth; four children, Sandy (Dave) Lawson, Steve (Barb) Hackbarth, Julie (Mark) Timmons and Bob (Julie) Hackbarth; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold (Geraldine) Hackbarth of Dubuque and John Hackbarth of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gertrude Hackbarth.
