Arlyne Diesch Williams, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Earlville United Parish by Pastor Jill Mack. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Arrangements by Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home, Earlville.

Survivors include four children, Rebecca Tipton of Carroll, Deborah Bird of Cedar Rapids, Robert John Bissell of Kansas, and Teresa Smart of Marion; seven grandchildren, Bart Tipton, Taunia Allton, Brian Bissell, Chad Bird, Barb Baity, Dustin Smart, and Kyle Smart; and several great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, John (Jack) Diesch of Marion and a sister, Frances Gearhart of Manchester.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maude Barger Diesch; three husbands; a brother, Maurice Diesch; two sisters, Dorice Maxwell and Edythe Parkin; and a grandson, Brett Tipton.

Arlyne was born August 8, 1923, the daughter of John and Maude (Barger) Diesch in Almoral, Iowa, near Earlville. She attended school in Oneida and graduated from Manchester High School. Arlyne retired from Collins Radio (Rockwell Collins) where she worked in manufacturing.

Arlyne enjoyed any type of handwork, knitting, crocheting, tatting, sewing, quilting, macramé, and oil painting. She was a wonderful cook even during the war when items were rationed and she had to be creative with her recipes.
