Arlene I. Wilson, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, February 23, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Dan Kolander. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 26.) Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband of forty-six years, Benny; three children, Bryan Wilson and his partner Bob Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana, Barbara (Bill) Morris of Lakeside, California, and Doug (Angie) Wilson of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Emma and Benjamin; brothers and sisters, Jean Sindelar of Cedar Rapids, Al (Mary) Ames of Marion, Doris Egbert of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert (Carol) Ames of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Vernon (Lynn) Ames of Marion; and her cats, Midnight II and Flyer.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ervin Ames; and a sister, Shirley Kabela.

Arlene was born the daughter of Jacob and Ella Jarstad Ames on January 21, 1934, in Decorah, Iowa. She graduated from Clermont High School in 1953, and St. Luke?s School of Nursing in 1956. On February 15, 1958, she was united in marriage to Benny D. Wilson at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Arlene was a registered nurse at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids from 1956 - 1982, and at the VA Hospital in Iowa City from 1982 until she retired in 1999. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids.

Arlene enjoyed traveling and gardening. She loved being a nurse and especially loved her grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
