Arlene Mae Boehmke Behrens Titler, 89, formerly of Alburnett, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church, Center Point. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include her children Connie (Terry) Bright, Cathie Humann, Kay (Everett) Weaver, Chuck (Kim) Behrens, Pam (Roger) Carlson, Lori (Mark) Lebeda, and Donna (Roger) Oellrich; daughters-in-law, Mary Behrens and Jan Behrens; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Brecht; a brother, William Boehmke; and a step-daughter, Marva Neighbor.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Karl Behrens; her second husband, Marvin Titler; two sons, John and Tom Behrens; son-in-law, Gary Humann; step-son, Ron Titler; step-daughter, Darlene Feight; three brothers; two sisters; and one infant granddaughter.
Arlene was born on April 23, 1924, in Keystone, Iowa, the daughter of F. William and Anna (Kramer) Boehmke. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Church in Keystone. Arlene worked as a teacher for five years, until beginning her family. On December 30, 1945, she was united in marriage to Karl Behrens in Keystone. He died December 2, 1963. She then married Marvin Titler on June 29, 1974, in Alburnett. He died March 21, 1996.
Arlene was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Center Point. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and quilting. She was a part of the Alburnett Book Club and Ladies Aid at her church. Arlene especially enjoyed taking care of her family.
