Arlene M. Perry, of Dundee, Iowa, died Saturday morning, July 16, 2005 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from complications of osteoporosis.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2005 at St. John?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dundee. Friends may call from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services on Monday at the church. Burial will be in Forestville Cemetery, rural Dundee.

Arlene Marcella Perry was born August 8, 1919 in Dundee, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Nettie Mae Ahrens. While growing up, Arlene helped on the family farm. She received her education at the Dundee School, graduating in 1937. On August 2, 1941, Arlene was united in marriage to Forrest H. Perry in rural Dundee. Together they farmed on the original farm of her grandparents, that they later purchased.

Arlene was lifetime member of St. John?s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dundee, where she taught Sunday School and belonged to the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Dundee Mother?s Club and volunteered her time in the school?s cafeteria. Arlene enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, canning her fruits and vegetables and preparing meals for the threshing crews.

Arlene?s family include her son, Mervin "Mike? Perry and his fiancé, Norma Schmatt, both of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons and their wives, Craig & LeAnne Perry of Center Point, Iowa and Cale & Ronda Perry of Adel, Iowa; and seven great grandchildren, Cayla, Dakota, Courtney, Kelsey & Kara Perry of Center Point, and Brianna and Brady Perry of Adel.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest H. Perry, on January 21, 2002.

The family suggests memorials be directed to St. John?s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dundee.
