She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ardy was born June 18, 1933, the daughter of Kalmer and Louise (Oleson) Randa on the family farm in rural Emmet County, Iowa. She grew up in northwestern Iowa and attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, receiving her associate degree. In 1951, she went with her parents when they relocated to San Bernardino, California, where she taught kindergarten at Highland Lutheran Church School. She later attended Upper Iowa University where she received her B.A. degree. Ardy married Raymond Forrest Cherry on March 21, 1953, at Highland Lutheran Church. Raymond was stationed in San Diego, California at the time of their marriage. They then moved to Walker, Iowa, Raymond’s home town, where she taught kindergarten and later junior high at Troy Mills School.

She worked for Bob Zimmerman Ford for twenty years before becoming a Realtor for Skogman Realty, where she still has listings and closings pending. She was a member of the Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors (CRAAR) where they have created a high school scholarship fund in Ardy’s honor.

Dearest to her heart was her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her delight and joy in other people will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the scholarship fund established in Ardy’s memory at CRAAR or to Troy Mills Christian Church.
