Ardys Nadine (Powell) Zimpfer, 71, of Breckenridge, Colorado, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died September 26th, 2002, due to an accidental fall. Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at the Troy Mills Christian Church, Troy Mills, Iowa, by the Rev. Les Larson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2002, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker, Iowa. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest; four daughters and sons-in-law: Cynthia and Michael Patton of Maplewood, New Jersey; Lisa and Paul Koch of Parker, Colorado; Amy and Harold Ball of Mill Valley, California; and Polly and Robert Blank of Carthage, New York; mother, Oma Powell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, Harry Powell Jr. of Troy Mills, Iowa; sister, Necia Hasbrook of Salem, Oregon; seven granddaughters: Annabelle Patton, Chelsea Koch, Betsy Koch, Madeleine Ball, Addison Ball, Angela Blank, Stephanie Blank and two step-grandsons: Donovan Patton and Casey Patton.

Ardys was preceded in death by her father, Harry G. Powell Sr.

Ardys was born in Troy Mills, Iowa, on February 19, 1931. She married Ernest Zimpfer on January 16th, 1952, in Troy Mills, Iowa. She earned a bachelor?s degree in French at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and received a master?s degree in Library Science from the University of Colorado at Denver, Colorado. Ardys treasured the arts, especially theater, music, and literature. She was an active member in Father Dyer?s Christian church and the Summit County Senior Center in Frisco, Colorado. Ardys was an avid skier and enjoyed hiking in the Colorado Mountains. She and her husband, Ernest served their country as Peace Corps volunteers in Tanzania, East Africa in 1989-1991. Upon their return from the Peace Corps, they spent three years in Washington D.C. as managers of the International Student House. They loved traveling throughout the world. Ardys was a devoted and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend.

Memorials may be sent to Troy Mills Christian Church, Troy Mills, Iowa, in memory of Ardys.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Father Dyer Church, Breckenridge, Colorado.
