Ardith E. Schoon

Ardith E. Schoon, 82, died November 8, 2004, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids from complications of Alzheimer?s. Memorial Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. A private burial will be at Monticello Oakwood Cemetery.
Survivors are a sister, Ruth Schoon of Monticello; a daughter, Judith (Connie) Peal of Scotch Grove; a son, Randy Schoon of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Morris; a sister, Maive; her husband, LeRoy, in 1963; daughter, Lea in 1945; son, Larry in 1982; and special friend Gerhard Tuetken in 1995.
Born December 27, 1921, in Martelle, Ardith was the daughter of Earl and Esther Newman Kohl. She was married to LeRoy Schoon in March 1940. They resided in Monticello until 1958 when they moved to Cedar Rapids and Marion. Later, she was employed by Curl?s Upholstery until her retirement. She also will be remembered by many, for the beautiful bridal and attendants gowns that she designed and sewed for many brides in the area.
She was a caring and loving lady who enjoyed tending her grandchildren.
