Ardis Mae Gallagher, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, December 7, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Eric Schumacher of Northbrook Baptist Church. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (Rick) Stieger of Blue Grass, Iowa, Bill (Tammy) Gallagher of Cedar Rapids and daughter-in-law, Julie Gallagher of Swisher; six grandsons, Maj. Chad (Loretta) Gallagher, Cory (April) Gallagher, SSgt. Kevin (Kacey) Gallagher, SSg. Matthew (April) Gallagher, SSgt. Tim (Kaleigh) Gallagher and Robby Gallagher; one granddaughter, Nicole (Mike) Stoddard; eight great granddaughters, Bailey, Rebecca, Katherine, Rachel, Jenna, Taylor, Courtney and Caroline; and two great grandsons, Jaystin and Timothy James, Jr. Also surviving is one brother, William (Merrily) Jepson of New Berlin, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; and son, Dick Gallagher in 2002.
Ardis was born to William and Mabel (Smith) Jepson on August 13, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On March 23, 1946, she married Herbert F. Gallagher, Jr. in Cedar Rapids. He died November 22, 2002.
Ardis enjoyed working puzzle books, bird watching and taking care of her flowers. Her whole life centered around her family.
A memorial fund has been established in Ardis’ memory.
