Ardis Irene "Ardi" Clatterbuck (Dawson)

Ardis “Ardi” Irene Clatterbuck, 88, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Springville, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Springville First United Methodist Church, Springville, by Rev. John Keizer. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Inurnment: Springville Cemetery, Springville. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Sharon (Keith) Milburn of Kansas City, MO, Boni (Dr. Terry) Moore of Cedar Rapids, and Coni (John Dixon) Hoskins of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Scott (Christine) Milburn, Craig (Kristen) Milburn, Chris (Danette) Moore, Nicole Moore, Cory (Lori) Hoskins, and Todd (Erin) Hoskins; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Max (Martha) VanKirk, and Bill (Darlene) VanKirk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jerome; her second husband, Eugene; and brother, Kendall Dawson.
Ardis was born May 5, 1924, in Springville, the daughter of James and Della (VanKirk) Dawson. She graduated from high school in Colfax, Wisconsin. Ardis married Jerome Schwartz; together they had a daughter, Sharon. Jerome was killed in action in 1944 while serving his country during WWII. Ardis married Eugene Clatterbuck in 1946, in Marion. Eugene died in 1971. In her early years, Ardis worked as the telephone operator in Springville, she later retired from the Iowa Department of Revenue after over 30 years.
Ardis was a longtime member of the Springville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, the Rebecca Lodge, and American Business Women Association. Ardis volunteered at the Springville Community Center, was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, and volunteered at the HD Youth Center serving breakfast, She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, music (especially polka), and to travel. She enjoyed her trips to Minnesota with close family friends. Above all, Ardis loved her children, grandchildren, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ardis’ memory.
