Archie Bottoms, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Meyers of Cedar Rapids, and Shirley (Pete) Piper of Hannibal, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Krotz of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Charles Bottoms of Cedar Rapids and George Bottoms of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jennie; and two daughters, Patricia Bottoms and Mary Smith.
Archie was born November 14, 1935, in New Canton, Illinois, the son of Archie and Edna Bottoms. For 43 years, he was a machine operator for Cargill retiring in 2000. He was a member of Teamsters Local #238.
A memorial fund has been established in Archie?s memory.
