Annelies Hedwig Anderson, 75, of Ryan, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 19 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan by Rev. Roger McKinstry & Intern Nathan Liedtke. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Ryan.
Annelies was born the daughter of Gerhard P. & Hedwig M. (Heinsch) Herrmann on February 18, 1929 in Ebersbach/Sa. Germany. Annelies grew up in Germany. She met her future husband, Weslie, while he was stationed there serving the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. The couple married on September 14, 1953 in Augsburg. They moved to the United States upon Weslie?s discharge, settling in Troy Mills. In 1955, the couple moved to the Ryan area. Annelies was proud of becoming a U.S. citizen on April 26, 1966. She worked for Schemmel Drug Store in Ryan and sold Stanley Home products. Annelies managed her husband?s shop, Bruce?s Auto & Weld Shop in Manchester, after his death in 1981. She retired in 1991.
Annelies was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan where she taught Sunday School, served on the Altar Guild and various other committees. She enjoyed her grandchildren, playing cards, gardening and sewing for her family. Annelies traveled to Germany several times to visit her family.
Annelies is survived by two children, Gerhard "Gary? (Leta) Anderson of Manchester and Ingrid (Steven) Quint of Ryan; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Weslie, Sarah & Adam Anderson and Joseph (Nichole), Bruce, Minna & Katrina Quint; one great-grandson, Nolan; one sister and brother, Inge (Arthur) Hartmann and Peter Herrmann, both of Ebersbach/Sa. Germany; three sisters-in-law, Ilene Kehrli of Dallas, TX, Nyline (Kenneth) Price of Troy Mills and Geneva Rohwedder of Onslow and their families; plus many other family members in Germany.
Annelies was preceded in death by her parents, Gerhard & Hedwig Herrmann; and her husband, Weslie Bruce Anderson.
