Anne Viktor, 87, of rural Mt. Vernon, passed on early Wednesday morning, August 20, 2008. She grew up on a farm near Ely, Iowa then Toddville, then Palo. She married Paul Viktor May 14, 1946 at the Little Brown Church outside of Nashua, Iowa.
They moved to the farm northwest of Mt. Vernon in February, 1948, where she lived for over 60 years.
She helped raise hogs and cattle and helped with all the field work. She raised a vegetable garden, was a great cook, fixed up a house that had been run down, and raised two children.
Anne was born October 8, 1920 on the family farm near Rogers Grove in rural Ely. Preceded in passing by her father, Lester Elias, mother Anna (Svoboda) Elias, husband Paul, and brothers Lester and Louis. She is survived by her son, Allan and daughter, Diane (Don) Raymond; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Chadima and Lydia Elias and nephews and niece.
The family will greet friends from 2 - 6 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Remembrances will begin at 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008, at the funeral home, by Rev. Brenda Ehret. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Bertram, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to a Hospice organization of the donor’s choice in Anne’s memory.
