Anne M. Veal

Anne M. Veal, 80, formerly of Marion and a resident of the Vinton Lutheran Home, died there Sunday, May 29, 2005, after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Marion, by the Rev. Thomas Hedtke. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday (June 2) and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Survivors include her children, Jeff Veal and wife Jorah Huibregtse of State Center, and Janice (Dean) Zachmeyer and Doug (Linda) Veal, all of Marion; a brother, Sverre Berle of Dyment, Ontario, Canada; three sisters-in-law, Alice Berle of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and Eleanora Lowenberger and Alma Veal, both of Langenburg, Saskatchewan, Canada; and four grandchildren, Stacey (Brian) Witzenburg of Marion, Dustin Zachmeyer of Cedar Falls, Amy Veal and Melissa Veal, both of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; and a brother, Olaf Berle.
Anne was born July 29, 1924, the daughter of Einar and Hilda Albertson Berle in Dyment, Ontario, Canada. On September 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Walter Veal in Winnipeg, Canada. He died February 18, 1997. Anne was a secretary and bookkeeper for Sanitation Laboratories and Cargill for twenty years. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Marion, Lutheran Women?s Missionary League and various women?s circles associated with the church.
Anne and Walter enjoyed playing cards and were active in numerous Bridge clubs. Anne also loved traveling.
Memorials, in memory of Anne, may be given to the Alzheimer?s Association East Central Iowa Chapter, 1570 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids 52402, St. Luke?s Hospice or the Vinton Lutheran Home.
