Ann E. Wendt (Phelps)

Ann E. Wendt, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. David Bissell. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Tom (Tina) Wendt of Round Rock, Texas, Tim (Chris) Wendt, Dustin (Casey) Wendt, Dodie Wendt and Dennis (Sue) Wendt, all of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd (Sandra) Phelps, Jr. of Cedar Rapids; aunt, Lois Hanson of Cedar Rapids; and her beloved dog, Bella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dale, April 20, 2009.
Ann was born March 31, 1938, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Hanson) Phelps, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A graduate from Roosevelt High School, she worked for the University of Iowa Hospital as an operating room technician. On August 1, 1966, Ann was united in marriage to Dale Wendt in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Together they owned and operated Wendt Construction and she ran Wendt’s Wallpapering Service. Ann later was property manager for the couple’s rental properties.
Ann was a past Den Mother, enjoyed camping and loved going to the State Fair. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cedar Rapids.
