Ann M. Walter, 97, a resident of Colonial Manor in Amana, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, following a short illness. Services: Noon, Thursday, April 1, 2004, at St. Ludmilas Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tom McDermott. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a scripture service will begin at 6:30 p.m and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, St. Patrick?s Cemetery, Watkins, Iowa.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence, Jr. (Marjorie) Walter and Ron (Shirley) Walter, all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Terry (Donna) Walter of Ankeny, Tim Walter, Ed Walter, both of Cedar Rapids, Nanette (Bill) Walter Yurcik of Bloomington, Illinois, and Nancy (Jeff) Hrubes of Cedar Rapids; nine great-grandchildren; and a niece, Marianne Nemmers of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; and a sister, Mary Lenk.

Ann was born June 5, 1906, the daughter of Frank and Anna Souchek, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On October 2, 1928, she was united in marriage to Clarence P. Walter, in Watkins, Iowa. He died August 26, 1971. A longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, Ann enjoyed her work as a homemaker.
